Weekend Highlights

1. Spent Friday night in with my roommates. We cooked our first meat since being here. We thought we had bought chicken breasts, but no it was a full chicken. We sat around the table eating chicken tacos, we each had a beer, and talked for hours about life. I love quality time around the table.

2. Biked downtown Saturday morning to get groceries. We also explored downtown area and browsed at the little shops.

3. Went out for baleadas with everyone and then to a party for a friend's birthday. Poor Juticalpa was gringa and gringo free that night, as I think every American (~30) was at said party.

4. Met our neighbor Reyna. She brought over muffins. We got to talking about life her and such and she then offered to go to church together. I saw two students at church, both of whom ran to give me big hugs during the sign of peace. After church, our car battery died and so Reyna went to get help from my student's family. We discovered that their car was also dead, so I helped push both cars back into functioning mode. Then Reyna invited us over for dinner to learn how to make tortillas. What a lovely woman-- already feeding us and taking us places in one day. She is even letting us borrow her wash machine if needed and she's trying to find us one to replace our broken one. I love neighbors!
